"Pecaruan" at Surya Mandala PDF Print E-mail

Active ImageYesterday at Surya Mandala Cultural Park Tanah Lot, also held "Pecaruan" ceremony. Procession have been started on 10 AM and led by three holiest priest "Rsi" from "Griya Tumbak Bayuh", Ida Peranda Buda Jadi, and Ida Peranda Siwa Griya Timpag. The ceremony attended by Head Regent of Tabanan regency, Mr. Adi Wiryatama and other invitations including Operational Manager of Tanah Lot, Mr. I Made Sujana. Purpose of religous ceremony is to cleanse all building in Surya Mandala before the opening begin on January 2009. Pecaruan is part of Bhuta Yadnya ceremony that is give offerings for the demons or bhuta kala so that it will not disturb human being life.

Religious Ceremony at Jro Kandang Temple PDF Print E-mail

Active ImageYesterday  there is religious ceremony at Jro Kandang Temple "Karya Agung Mamungkah Ngenteg Linggih", exact with Tumpek  Kandang which also representing the temple anniversary. Yesterday is the top of procession that are "Pengubengan Kori Pelinggih Madiamandala" and "Makuh" which led by "Ida Peranda Griya Perean Kediri". One day before already held some religious ceremonies such as "Mendak Tirtha" at 8 AM at some temple in surrounding Jro Kandang Temple and at some temple in Beraban village such as Dalem Temple, Puseh Temple, Bale Agung Temple, Dangin Bingin Temple, Pakendungan Temple, Tanah Lot Temple, Batu Mejan Temple, Jro Kando Temple, Bomo Temple, and Batubolong Temple. 

At 1 PM, procession continued with "Ngebejian Ida Bethara" going to Beji Tanah Lot Temple. Ngebejian Ida Bethara is cleaning all of equipment that will used for ceremony to Beji  or source of holy water with  balinese sound "Gong". The equipment are lelontek or banner, pratima-pratima or symbol of the Gods, and any other equipment, brought to Beji to be cleaned before used for religious ceremony. First all of equipment brought to beji  with pageant. At beji all pratima one by one ceremonied like Natab Banten Pabyakaonan, Banten Prascita, and Jerimpen where it contents are Kekumur, Don dadap, Kapas minyak kukus arum, Lis, Penyeneng, and Teterag, and last is ngaturang bakti or pray to the God that powering Beji Tanah Lot Temple and then required tirtha or holy water so that all pratima becoming holy and ready to used for religious ceremony.

Special Day : Tumpek Kandang PDF Print E-mail

Active ImageThis Saturday, November 8th, 2008, Balinese will celebrate the “Tumpek Kandang” day. This day is dedicated to Sang Hyang Rare Angon, the god of all cattle and livestock. On this day Balinese show their appreciation and thankfulness to all domesticated animals that help them in everyday life. Tumpek Kandang, also called Tumpek Andang, falls on Saturday of Uye, the 22nd week of the pawukon cycle. The name Tumpek Kandang is derived from two words, “Tumpek” that means Saturday that coincide with Kliwon (name of a day based on Pancawara) and “Kandang” refers to Balinese word for pen, symbolizing the domesticated animals that Balinese Hindu highly honor. They include cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, dogs and birds.

 

On this day, domesticated animals in Bali receive a great attention; the cows are washed in the river and dressed-up like human beings, with special cone-shaped spiral of coconut leaf placed on their horns. The pigs are decorated, with their bellies wrapped with a white or yellow cloth. The domesticated animals are fed with the best food. A special offering is made for Sang Hyang Rare Angon, the god of all cattle and livestock, prayer is offered to the God for the welfare of the domesticated these animals. Holy water and rice are sprinkled to the head of these animals at the end of the ceremony.

Mepepada at Pakendungan Temple PDF Print E-mail

Active ImageAt the same day, at  Pakendungan Temple some balinese people preparing the equipment for mepepada ceremony. Mepepada ceremony will be held at 1 PM on this day.  Mepepada is procession bring all devoting like "bebantenan", animal, and any other, encircling "piadnyan" or the place of ceremony, counted three times. It must be three times, because this symbolise the Hindu people time submit to curtsey to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa (God), every day. All of animal  that used for devoting, will be slaughtered later, and believed if the animal born again, it become better creature of its degree.

 

Mepepada ceremony is part of "Pecaruan" ceremony which will held tomorrow. Pecaruan is devoting ceremony to Bhuta Kala (demons) so that will not disturb human being. Pecaruan also perform to sanctify the area which considered still dirty after renovation before.
