Happy Eid Mubarak 1435 H. Idul Fitri is the Islamic holiday that marks the end of the month long fasting of Ramadan. Many Indonesians from Java are return home for the holiday and a large number of domestic tourists are visit Tanah Lot for the holiday. On first day, Monday 28 July , 2014, there are 14.510 visitor in Tanah Lot. Police will be monitoring the massive movement of people leaving and entering Bali through the port of Gilimanuk where ferries connect Bali with Java. Not only there be a high chance of traffic accidents, police fear terrorists might target the holiday period to enter the island of Bali. Generally a good time to avoid travel if possible and many government offices, including immigration, are closed during the period.
In anticipation of Idul Fitri holidays, security officer have tightened security at Tanah Lot to prevent the place from any possible disturbances, including terrorist attacks. The security always keeping everyday, but for Idul Fitri and other holiday are more improved than the ordinary day. Start from entrance ticket gate, checking ticket, along of main road go to the temple, until Tanah Lot temple.
"We want to ensure the safety and comfort of people who want to travel home for Idul Fitri holidays," said the operational manager of Tanah Lot, Toya Adnyana. Thousands of people return home for Idul Fitri holidays, locally known as the mudik tradition. They usually flock to bus stations, airports and harbors a few days before the holidays.
About 50 personnel include those from the security staff of Tanah Lot operational management, Tanah Lot police officer, and the Pecalang. "Tanah Lot plays an important role in the Bali island as one of major tourist destination. We have to carry out extra measures to anticipate any security problems, from petty crimes to terrorism," he added.
