The biggest local politics event will be held to vote Bali's governor for the period 2013-2018 on May 15th. Two pairs of candidates are running in the election for the Governor and Vice Governor of Bali : Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga with Dewa Nyoman Sukrawan, and Made Mangku Pastika with Ketut Sudikerta. The Puspayoga-Sukrawan pair is backed by Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), and Made Mangku Pastika (incumbent) - Ketut Sudikerta pair is backed by nine political parties.

For the security during the gubernatorial election, Bali police have promised that their officers would implement tight security arrangements to safeguard all phases of the gubernatorial election. Election day is slated for May 15 with weeks of preparation, including the often volatile outdoor campaign period, preceding it.
