As soon as rabies infection announced in Tanah Lot  along with all villages started to take necessary action to prevent further spread of the disease. In Tanah Lot tourist attraction today was held elimination of wild dogs to prevent rabies disease. The elimination activity held by Infectious Disease Control Team of Beraban village.The elimination was held in the morning about on 6 AM and this time is the fourth elimination which have been started from Pebruary 2009, said, I Made Sujana as the Operational Manager of Tanah Lot.

Rabies, or ‘Mad Dog Disease’ has been around for centuries. However, it is a serious matter and not to be scoffed at lightly. It is most commonly caused by a bite from an infected animal, but occasionally by other forms of contact. If left untreated in humans it is usually fatal. In some countries it is a significant killer of livestock. He reported on this elimination had put down 103 dogs in all Beraban village area.  Elimination process used poison which was an aid from Tabanan government and from Beraban village it self. For this activity, Beraban government spend about 3 million rupiah.

Targeting the total elimination of wild dogs in tanah lot area efforts to rid rabies from the area. We will continue to exterminate wild dogs until they are all eliminated, said Made Sujana as Operational Manager.  In other words, wild dogs in Tanah Lot must have a total population of 'zero.' We will only allow vaccinated dogs with owners to survive.

Elimination proceed to prevent bad things in Tanah Lot. Although, until today there are no tourists or residents affected by the wild dog bites. But, elimination must proceed because Tanah Lot is one of tourist attraction with the highest number of tourist visits in Bali.
